Mentor-mentee Cooking Competition

17/10/2008, Casino TRD Pantry:-

The Casino TRD, our dept name - section organized a memorable “Mentor-Mentee” cooking session for the very first time in its history. The objective of this activity was to create bonding between TRD Executive (Mentor) and TRD Staff (Mentee).

The activity required the mentor-mentee teams to discuss on “What to cook?” and later, on “How to cook it?”. The 10 teams were simply ingenious incoming up with creative ideas! Within the given 2 hours, the teams were able to produce their dishes with rather impressive decorations, in unique shapes and sizes, and unbelievably great taste! It was a complete 15-course dinner fit for the Kings!

Our TRD temporary “Chef and demi-chefs”/ mentor-mentee teams with their signature dishes:

  • Lim TY- Kevin Lim : Tomato-mushroom spaghetti,
  • Zam : Ayam masak kunyit,
  • Mat : Ikan bilis masak merah,
  • Puva : Vegetarian chicken curry, & Kesari,
  • Azizi : Clear fishball soup,
  • Jayce : Chicken tom yam,
  • Radha : Tofu and potato mix,
  • Shevaun (that's me)-Vasanthi : Seaweed wrap with dory fish & mix fruit,
  • Muzi : Telur goreng 5 rasa,
  • Tee PS : Fried spaghetti,
  • Terrance-Din : Mengkuang masak nyonya,
  • Su-Khairul : Masala vadai & murukku,
  • Last but not least, Ah Chin(our manageress) : 6-hour slow-boiled pandan red bean tong sui.

What was initially planned as an Interactive cooking session turned out to be a funfilled, delightful and heavenly kitchen adventure! But most memorably, the TRD team learnt the most basic and essential SURVIVAL skill – Cooking!

Working with Female Bosses

While searching for work related info on net, I found an interesting website, so call The Return of My Bad Boss Competition. I never thought we have such competition in this world. http://www.workingamerica.org/badboss/?appState=detail_p&story_id=25419.

Instead of debriefing, we can actually win something out of it. It's cool!! Unfortunately, only residents of Unite States are eligible. Other wise, I could have submit my experiences.

Not to deny, in this century, Female has bloom up to lead many corporates. However, facts & many research shown there is DIFFERENCE working with Female boss & Male boss.

Male has long time dominate the leadership. Arguments on the equal authority for both Male & Female are raised yet confusion where Male can become the TOP hairstylist, beautician, florist, cook & fashion designer is always unexplainable!!

To me, it's not about GENDER, it's about individual. I believe Most Female is "Emotional" by being fast tempered, revengeance, too detailed, moody, jealoused etc because they do not manage their emotion well. Same goes to Male, they can be as bossy, fast temper, lusty, bias etc....

We all attended Stress management, Anger management blah blah blah... simply because we know stress/ anger/ exhaust/ sickness do not attack people by GENDER. Instead of blaming the GENDER, we should WAKE UP!!! If we can manipulate others to do things for us, why don't we manipulate our emotion for better result. All I can say is....

"I'm really dissappointed with some of the Female Bosses."
I have observed them closely, they do have individual specialities that enable them to sit in higher position. Yet sometimes they've forgotten the hardship they've been through & now their brains are filled with "how wealthy & glamor I am"!!

When I see them behave like mad monkeys, I even told my colleagues I wish I won't get promoted & act like them. I'll take all experiences as lessons to remind me NEVER mistreat my subordinates!!!!
